An update on The Corpus Callosum Chronicles
Dear Readers,
Thank you for being here. Thank you for wanting to expand the borders of your mind through mythopoetic thinking. We need creative, multidimensional thinkers to survive this time of chaos. What I offer here is an invitation to expand into layered, circular ways of perceiving and thinking, and I’m so appreciative so many of you are here reading my work each week.
It may not seem like it from my subject matter, but all of my writing for the past four years in The Corpus Callosum Chronicles has been an attempt to address and correct the injustices of patriarchal systems through language. I don’t do this by giving you information. We have enough of that, and so far, it’s not enough to inspire the kinds of changes we need if we are going to move forward collectively without violent collapse of the institutions which govern our daily lives, or to halt the damage to our planet’s ecosystems that will result in continued extinctions, possibly ours.
For the past four years I haven’t been telling you how to reinvigorate the stagnant, close to extinct synapse between our left and right brain hemispheres. I’ve been showing you through sharing folk tales, myths, and poetic, metaphorical language, that operates on multiple levels, hoping to inspire a reawakening within you into multidimensional consciousness that’s aware we are living in a circular reality, not the straight lines we have been conditioned to believe cut and measure our lives.
The English language, rooted in nouns, in subject and object, and possessive pronouns, is a handicap. I have done my best to rise to this challenge and create work of depth and beauty despite the limitations of my native tongue.
I am more inspired than ever to create, which is why I’m writing today to let you know I’ve paused paid subscriptions for the next three months, possibly longer. If you are a paid subscriber, you will not be billed.
I’m doing this because it’s been eating away at me that I haven’t been able to keep up with writing weekly posts for the past few months. Recently, I have begun three new books while also working a full time day job as a bodyworker. Writing an essay for the Corpus Callosum Chronicles takes at least one day a week. The stress of feeling like I’m not doing enough here, especially for my paid subscribers, has been affecting my ability to devote myself wholeheartedly to my new books, so I am going to take a break. I may still post here if I have time or feel truly inspired, but for now I am going to focus all my creativity on the books, especially The Way of White Feathers, parts of which I’ve posted here. I thought I could write it as a serial here, but I can feel that’s not what the book wants.
Writing a book requires listening to what the book’s desires, not just mine. And this book does not want to be exposed so quickly. Out of respect, out of reverence for what is being offered to me to bring through me into life, I am not going to post it in chunks and give it the time and space it needs to develop so that it trusts me as its channel. This is how intimacy develops, and I will not violate my new book’s trust by using it to satisfy my need to fulfill paid subscriptions.
If any of you do still want to support the creation of this work financially, I would appreciate donations through the Buy Me a Coffee app. Here’s a link:
I also would gratefully receive well wishes in spirit or in the comments. It’s so gratifying to hear from you!
Other ways you can support are through purchasing my book, Piko: A Return to the Dreaming, by reviewing it on Amazon if you’ve read it, or telling your friends about the book.
Here are two links to buy the book:
(Amazon is currently listing the book at $2.70, but I get my full royalty, which is more than that. Grab one quick, because the prices fluctuates a lot.)
And for those who want to support independent bookstores, here’s a link to buy on Bookshop:
April will be the four year anniversary of The Corpus Callosum Chronicles! The archives are packed with mythopoetic content that I’m quite proud of, so if you miss me, dive into some back essays.
