The Great Separation: How Myths Hold the Keys to Healing our Modern Wounds
A Conversation with Kyra Finley on the Ophiuchius Moon Podcast
Dear Readers,
This week I’m sharing a recent conversation I had with Kyra Finley of the Ophiuchius Moon podcast.
Ophiuchius is a constellation associated with the Greek God of Healing, Asclepius, whose power was so great he could restore life to the dead. Ophiuchius is also considered by many to be an omitted 13th zodiac sign. The way I see it, this omission distorts our relationship to our own healing powers exemplified by Asclepius. Do I believe we can raise ourselves from the dead? Not exactly…but if the serpents associated with Asclepius aren’t taken so literally, his power could signify the kundalini rising up our spinal cord that connects us to the divine. That’s the kind of snakebite that incinerates the lie of separation.
I think Kyra and I both came on knowing we were going to enjoy talking to each other, but what happened surprised us both. For me, the results were exhilarating. Kyra’s questions had us ranging far and wide. I was thinking out loud, which I know is a sign I’m developing new neural pathways and expanding my consciousness in the moment. Yes, thinking can be a creative act.
In some contexts the way I communicate might be labeled neurodivergent. I’m fine with that…and I also want to note that I don’t think neurodivergence is a problem.
Neurodivergence is a solution.
The problem is one most modern humans don't even know exists—we are so dominated by the systems of classification and control created by our left-brain dominant culture, we’ve stitched ourselves into straitjackets we don’t even know we’re wearing. Subjectivity is a lie. It doesn’t exist. Thoughts move through us like rainstorms who are constantly losing themselves in oceans and clouds. We are not alone. We are isolated.
Knowing the difference between the two is crucial to breaking free and out.
Leaping minds like mine, which would probably be classified as ADHD if I went to a psychiatrist, are here to shake things up like a rattler’s tail.
Listen to our conversation. My hope is it helps you remember we’re in a labyrinth, not a prison, and there is a way out!
A breakdown of some of the topics we discussed is listed below. If you enjoyed this conversation please subscribe to Ophiuchius Moon and share widely with your webs. Together, we are magnetic and will reweave our world.
