“To be nobody but
yourself in a world
which is doing its best day and night to make you like
everybody else means to fight the hardest battle
which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.”—E.E Cummings
This edition of The Corpus Callosum Chronicles is filled with news instead of reflections. I have been busy cooking up all sorts of offerings and events in my cauldron, and have a lot to share before I begin the next brew. So…..
The big news is my website is here!
What I’m offering on this site, and the way I have presented myself, is a reflection of my entire life’s journey, particularly the last 16 years as Pluto has transited through Capricorn. As a solar Capricorn, I have really been put through the wringer, but if you asked me, I would say this period of trials has been the happiest time of my life. Not that I love being tested, though I am grateful when the tests show up. I love who I have become through being tested. I especially love that I have something to offer others through integrating my struggle. Yes, I have wrinkles, weigh more than I did as a youth, and have some gray hairs, but it’s totally worth it. I feel elderhood calling me, and I am answering, “bring it on!”
Have a look at my site and let me know what you think in the comments. I’d love to hear what you think. I am now offering sessions through Zoom, and will be launching a group odyssey of my mentorship program The Coracle in February. All the rich details can be found here>

Upcoming Events
Friday, December 13, 5:30-8:30PM
Myth Medicine Journey & Mandala Making
I am delighted to be collaborating with Elle Luna for a special evening of story, art, and food on December 13. I’ll be telling Psyche & Eros and Elle will be guiding us through the process of making mandalas. Art supplies will be provided, and we’ll share a meal afterwards. This is not a potluck. We are going to cook for you!
I was fortunate to meet Elle when I told the Yakut tale Red Bead Woman recently. She is a visual artist and author, and I am thrilled to collaborate with her, and both of us can’t wait to host you!
This event will be in a gorgeous private location in Kealakekua. If you’d like to attend, please register at this link:

Surprise Detours Creative Writing Workshop
Hennasphere, Kainaliu, Moku o Keawe
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get tired of writing about myself. You might not think it if you read this publication, because I use myself as a subject a lot, but I do. One antidote to the dread of all this self exploration, is to have some fun, which is what I’m planning for us in the playful workshop.
Writers of all levels and genres are invited to join us at Hennasphere where I’ll offer some ways to trick us out of our one-track stories and find the stories behind, or within them, that really want to be told. Those stories are usually the fun stories!
Please bring a notebook and pen, and register here if you are on Hawai’i Island at this link:

And finally, thanks to all who participated in my poll about my online Writers’ Circle, Enchanters at the End of the World (As We Know It).
From what you said, most would prefer a prompt a week, with a monthly Zoom call, and the option to connect through the Substack chat. I am thrilled you all want to Zoom with me!
This circle will be for paid subscribers, so if you want to join and are a free subscriber, you will need to upgrade, which you can do here.
Here is a link with more details about my intention for this circle:

One thing I will share before I go, is that my intention for this group is to keep it simple, while going very deep through the practice of aligning ourselves with the Nine Currents, which are my translation of the Nine Principles of the Oscillation of Magic in Heka, Mū Hawaiian magic.
This circle will be about practice. What happens when we show up in a cyclical rhythm with the same revolving questions? What will we create with words? How will they show up for us, and how will we show up for them?
I really don’t know what will happen, which always really excites me. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. I believe I will start sending out prompts to paid subscribers in mid-December. Out first Zoom call will be in January.
I’ll be back next week with a conversation between me and Norman Minnick on the creation of my mythopoetic memoir, Piko: A Return to the Dreaming. Norman was the editor and designer of Piko, and is quite an accomplished poet, author, publisher, and teacher. It was an honor to chat with him and I’m excited to share our conversation with you. If you don’t yet have a copy of Piko, here’s one final link before I bid you adieu, or ahui hou, as we say here in Hawai’i:
