Hello Readers,
Tonight I’m seeking your counsel-you precious bunch of dreamers who actually pass some of your precious time with me each week. I am so grateful.
I want to offer something for paid subscribers in addition to my weekly newsletters and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
One idea that’s been sailing around in my head is to offer a writing course I’m loosely titling, “The Art of Spell-Casting: The Circumnavigation of the Po’ai.” It would be structured on the nine points of the oscillation of magic according to Heka, which is Mū Hawaiian magic.
I am not a Heka expert, but I can claim some mastery on how to write a poem and how to create magical ceremonial spaces with integrity. I’m not quite sure how this course would be structured. Perhaps it’s not suited for Substack, but I’m curious to hear if it’s something you are interested in. It would be available for paid subscribers only.
If there is interest in a course with a live component via zoom or some other electronic format on this topic I’d like to hear that, too. I really wish you all lived around the corner and we could meet in person, but I’m willing to get out of my comfort zone and get on zoom if I can make a contribution to your lives.
I realize not everyone here may want a writing course, so maybe a series of essay son the nine principles of the oscillation of magic would make more sense. I could include writing suggestions. There is a Chat option here on Substack that we could use to to communicate privately.
If anyone has any ideas of contributions I can make for my paid subscribers, please let me know! I've seen other writers offer monthly zoom hangouts, but I’m honestly not sure people want to chat live with me! I think I might be a lot more interesting on paper.
It wouldn’t work on Substack, but I am also available for one-on-one sessions. These sessions could focus on writing-both inspiration, craft, or a combination of both, or some other area like exploring a particular story together as it weaves its way through your life. I have found working with story like this to be pure magic. The transformations for me have been deep and true.
I’m also happy to report that my book Piko: A Return to the Dreaming is with an editor and should be released late summer. I’ve posted excerpts here that have been received with some enthusiasm, which makes me very excited to get a physical copy of the book into your hands. Storyteller and writer,
, author of my favorite Substack The House of Beasts and Vines, which you can read by clicking on his name, was kind enough to read the book and offer these words:“Jennifer Lighty is the real thing and has done us a great service with Piko. A modern woman working intuitively to contact mythic ground. Her language is fresh and imaginative, her intention five fathoms deep. I’m so glad she exists, and that she has turned some of her life’s work into a gift that we can cradle in our hands and feel the benefit.”
-Martin Shaw author of Bardskull
Once again, thank you for being a reader of The Corpus Callosum Chronicles. This first year has been just wonderful for me and I’m excited to keep cultivating this community. Please pass the word along to people you think would enjoy this newsletter, and please consider upgrading to a paid subscription if you can. I so appreciate you and would love to get to know you better through some kind of interactive creation!
You can leave suggestions or ideas in the comments below or in a private message by responding to this email.
Yours,
Jen
